NCAA D1 Indoors 2018/2019
In her first ever meet in a Kansas State University uniform, NAIA transfer Taishia Pryce was a double winner at the K-State Winter Invitational at Ahearn Field House in Manhattan, Kansas yesterday.
The multi-talented Jamaican won the women’s 60 meters in 7.52 seconds, just ahead of Asha Cave in 7.53 and went on to claim victory in the 300m in 39.47.
Pryce, who transferred from the NAIA Wiley College, was competing for the first time indoors (Wiley does not compete indoors).
The former St. Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) athlete earned the big jump to NCAA Division One after a fantastic 2018 season in the NAIA that culminated in becoming the first female to win an individual NAIA National title for Wiley College when she won the long jump event by 0.23m.
Pryce was not the only Jamaican to win multiple events on the day though, as fellow Wildcat Jullane Walker won the male equivalents.
Like Pryce, the junior also opened the 2018/2019 season with a double win. He ran away with the men’s 60m in 6.83 and later took the 300m in 35.66.
