Shanieke Watson wins SunBelt Conference 3000m Steeplechase title

Jamaican distance runner Shanieke Watson is the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase Sun Belt Conference Champion.

The Little Rock University Junior continued her winning ways when she clocked 10:43.08 to win her first outdoor title for the Trojans since transferring from Iowa Western.

It was a dominant display from the former Holmwood Technical High School athlete, finishing the race 10.40 seconds ahead of second place.

She is the first Trojan to win the Sun Belt Conference 3000m steeplechase title since Emma Dahl in 2016.

Watson also advanced to the 1500m final clocking the 5th fastest time (4:34.51) in the preliminaries which is just .38 seconds off the leading time.
