Jamaican national Rena Gordon continues her fantastic freshman season, leading Pearl River Community College to the NJCAA Division 1 playoff after a 3-1 win at Meridian last night.
The victory clinched the No. 3 seed in the MACJC’s South Division for the Lady Wildcats (7-6-1, 4-2-1 MACJC South).
Gordon linked up with compatriot Sashine Smith to give the Wildcats the lead three minutes before halftime burying Smith’s cross.
It is the Freshman’s 16th goal of the season, which easily leads the Lady Wildcats. In, fact Gordon has scored 55% of the team’s 29 goals so far this season, at a strike rate of 1.14 goals per game. (SBTN)
The Los Perfectos (Manchester, Jamaica) striker has featured in all 14 games for the Lady Wildcats with 9 starts bagging 4 assists to go along with her 16 goals.
Gordon, a national U20 player and Youth Commonwealth Games Beach Football silver medalist, is currently ranked 24th nationally in goal scoring and 35th in points with 36, which also leads her team.
She has been in top form, scoring in 9 of the last 10 games. In that run, she has three multi-goal games, one of which the highlight of her season so far, coming off the bench to score 4 goals against Southwest Mississippi CC.
For her impressive play, the Clarendon, Jamaica native has received several honours – she was named MACJC Conference Player of the Week twice in September which led to her being named Pear River Player of the Month.
The Lady Wildcats will conclude their regular season next Monday at Itawamba.
