Raheem Chambers breaks Miami University 60m record with ACC silver, Matherson 7th

Jamaican sprinter Raheem Chambers is the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships (ACC) Indoor men’s 60 metres runner-up.

The University of Miami junior was nipped at the line by Florida State University’s Kasaun James, who won in 6.61 seconds.

However, Chambers, who won SEC bronze for Auburn University last season, placed himself at the top of the Hurricane all-time list with his 6.62 clocking breaking Myles Valentine’s previous record of 6.65.

This is only the fourth race and second time competing in a Hurricane uniform for Chambers since transferring from Auburn at the end of last season.

He opened his season with 6.69 to win at the Doc Hale VT Elite meet on February 1 before tying the previous record in the heats yesterday.

His compatriot and Florida State freshman Jevaughn Matherson finished seventh in 6.78.
