Jamaican up and coming sprinter Oraine Palmer had an impressive indoor debut, finishing second overall at the UW Indoor Preview meet earlier today.

Palmer, who transferred from NAIA’s Wiley College to NCAA Division One powerhouse the University of Oregon, clocked 6.65 seconds to win heat 1 of the timed finals.

The mark fell just short of Alexander Donigian (Seatle Speed) but was the fastest collegian at the meet.

It’s also the 4th fastest time in the event in the Ducks program history. It’s a great start for the redshirt junior competing for the first time indoors as his former school does not compete indoors.

The former St. Georges College athlete had a monster 2018. He was Named the 2018 NAIA National and South Central Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA after winning three national titles—100m, 200m, 4x100m at the NAIA Championships.

He clocked personal bests of 10.35 in the 100m and 20.56 in the 200m.
