Jordan Scott opens with personal best in Triple Jump, ranks No.5 in NCAA

Jamaican jumper Jordan Scott opened his 2019 collegiate season with a bang leaping to a new personal best to win the men’s triple jump at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge in New York earlier today.

The University of Virginia junior’s best leap of 16.43 metres was well better than his closest competitor Papay Glaywulu (15.81m). The mark is the second-best jump in program history and surpasses his previous best of 16.36m set in 2017.

It also ranks No.5 in the NCAA season rankings.e start to the season for Scott, who has been struggling with injuries since last season. He went over 16m on five of the six jumps in his series (16.16m, 14.54m, 16.43m, 16.24m, 16.39m, 16.38m) surpassing his previous best on three of them.
