Jamaica’s Fedrick Dacres finished just outside the medals in a commendable fourth in the Men’s discus final a short while ago at the IAAF World Championships in London.
Dacres finished with a best of 65.83 metres well behind winner Andrius GUDŽIUS, who won gold in a new personal best 69.21m.
Traves Smikle, the other Jamaican competing in the final finished 8th with a best of 64.04m. Dacres, who came into the championships as a medal threat ranking No.2 in the world this season with his national record 68.88m, was disappointed in finishing out of the medals.
Dacres shook his head in disappointment upon realizing his final attempt fell well short of Michael Finley’s bronze medal mark of 68.03m.
He was consistent in the 65m range – throwing 65.62m, 65.70m, 65.83m before closing with 64.41m and 64.67m.
More to come ….
