Akanni Hislop clocks big personal best in season opener

Trinidad & Tobago sprinter Akanni Hislop opened his season with a big personal best and a win at the UAB Vulcan Invite held at The CrossPlex earlier today.

The LSU junior clocked 6.74 seconds to win his qualifying heat well ahead of Jackson State’s Jailen Bell (6.84) surpassing his previous best of 6.83 set in 2017.

The Sou Sou Lands, Tobago native came back shortly after to equal the mark on his way to victory in the finals again finishing ahead of Bell.

The mark ranks 20th in the NCAA season rankings.
